Salah Hit With UK Driving Ban Over £400k Rolls-Royce Speeding Probe

​Former Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah has been handed a six-month driving disqualification by a UK court after failing to disclose who was behind the wheel of his luxury £400,000 Rolls-Royce when it was caught speeding.

​The 34-year-old Egypt international, who transferred to Turkish Süper Lig side Trabzonspor over the summer following a legendary nine-year spell at Anfield, was prosecuted at Warrington Combined Court under the Single Justice Procedure.

​According to court records, the forward’s high-end electric vehicle was flagged by a mobile speed camera traveling at 36mph in a 30mph limit zone along a stretch of road in Wilmslow, Cheshire, on March 27. Cheshire Constabulary subsequently issued a notice of intended prosecution, but authorities received no response or plea from the player.

​Because the summonses went unanswered, magistrates proceeded with a private hearing in his absence, convicting him of failing to provide driver identification details. Alongside the six-month driving ban, Salah was ordered to pay a total of £1,044, which includes a £660 fine, £120 in court costs, and a £264 victim surcharge.

​The legal setback compounds a turbulent period that closely followed his emotional departure from Merseyside. Salah exited Liverpool as a modern club great, having netted 257 goals across 442 appearances and captured every major honor, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

​This incident is not the forward’s first brush with British traffic authorities. In 2022, he was slapped with a fine and three penalty points after being clocked driving a Ferrari F8 Tributo at 62mph in a 50mph zone in Stockport. He also faced police scrutiny in 2018 over allegations of using a mobile phone while driving near Anfield, though that case did not lead to prosecution due to insufficient evidence.

​Despite settling into life in Turkey—where he has made a blistering start with Trabzonspor—the long arm of the British judiciary has caught up with the former Premier League talisman, abruptly closing the book on his UK driving privileges.
