Rwanda head coach Thorsten Frannk Splitter plans to rely on Gernot Rohr for crucial insights to defeat the Super Eagles in their 2026 World Cup CAF Qualifying Group C match on March 17, 2025, according to Valid View Network.
Rwanda currently tops the group with seven points, tied with South Africa but ahead due to a better goal difference. They aim to strengthen their bid for a maiden World Cup qualification by defeating Nigeria.
Rohr, who coached Nigeria for nearly six years before taking charge of Benin, led his team to a historic 2-1 victory over Nigeria on June 10 at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan. Splitter believes Rohr’s knowledge will be invaluable.

“I am very sure we (me and Gernot Rohr) will have a phone call before; it may be two or three, and if he can tell me something, I will be stupid not to take it. For that, we will try to be in contact; if possible, we can help each other; for sure, we will do it,” the Belgian coach told Brila FM on Saturday.
Rohr was celebrated by Benin’s players after Jodel Dossou’s 37th-minute goal and Steve Mounié’s stoppage-time winner secured a comeback victory against Nigeria, who had initially led through Raphael Onyedika’s 27th-minute goal.
Nigeria sits fifth in the group with just three points from four matches. The three-time African champions will aim to revive their qualification hopes when they host Zimbabwe on March 24, following their trip to Rwanda.
This effort will be under a new coach, as Finidi George resigned on June 15. The Nigeria Football Federation announced the hiring of an expatriate technical adviser to replace him.
