Kwara Governor Appoints Prof. Popoola CMD, Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed Professor Ademola Alabi Popoola as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the newly designated Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital in Omu-Aran. This appointment marks a strategic milestone following a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kwara State Government and Thomas Adewumi University, Oko, officially converting the Omu-Aran General Hospital into a teaching hospital affiliated with the university.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, emphasized that Prof. Popoola’s leadership is a bold and visionary step geared towards elevating medical training, research, and healthcare services to global standards. She highlighted the transformative impact of this development on both the university’s medical programs and healthcare accessibility for residents of Kwara State and beyond.

Founded on the historic MoU signed in early 2025, the upgrade of Omu-Aran General Hospital into a tertiary healthcare facility under Thomas Adewumi University is a collaborative effort aimed at producing world-class healthcare professionals while improving advanced medical care in the region.
