Prof. Nimbe Adedipe’s Alma Mater Visits FUNAAB Library

History was made on 23 September 2025 when the Principal, staff, students, and some old boys of Ibadan Boys’ High School, Oke Bola, Ibadan, the alma mater of the late Professor Nimbe Adedipe (IBH 490), first Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), paid a historic visit to the University Library named in his honour.

The entire team expressed delight at the enduring legacy of Professor Adedipe and the serene, beautiful environment of the University. In his remarks, the Principal noted that Ibadan Boys’ High School, Oke Bola, Ibadan will never forget the remarkable contributions of their distinguished alumnus, describing him as a true ambassador of the institution whose impact lives on even after his passing.

The University Librarian, who received the delegation, conducted the visitors round the Library, with particular emphasis on the special section dedicated to the late Professor’s personal collection. The Nimbe Adedipe Collection, donated to the University Library a few years ago, houses invaluable resources reflecting his academic and professional journey.

The students also toured various sections of the Library, including the Automation Unit, Reference Unit, Circulation Unit, Reserved Books Section, Learning Resources Unit, among others.

During the program, Dr. Akintola delivered a lecture on the importance of reading, inspiring the students to cultivate lifelong learning habits. The visit was further enriched by the presence of some distinguished old boys of Ibadan Boys’ High School, Oke Bola, Ibadan currently working at FUNAAB, including Prof. Adeniran, Mr. Rahman M. Adeosun, Mr. Adenekan, and several others.

In his closing remarks, the University Librarian pledged to strengthen ties by visiting the school’s library in order to foster a lasting relationship and collaboration between both institutions.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a gift to Ibadan Boys’ High School, Oke Bola, Ibadan by the staff of the Nimbe Adedipe Library, marking the day as a memorable celebration of legacy, education, and partnership.
