Portsmouth, UK – A 23-year-old prison officer from Portsmouth is set to face trial after being accused of engaging in simultaneous intimate relationships with two inmates and plotting to smuggle drugs into HMP Swaleside in Kent.
Isabelle Dale, who has described herself as a “seasoned officer with 2 years of experience,” appeared at Southwark Crown Court today. She faces two counts of misconduct in a public office, alleging inappropriate sexual relationships with serving prisoners Shahid Sharif, 33, and Connor Money, 28.
The first misconduct charge specifically details an alleged sexual relationship with Shahid Sharif. The second alleges a similar relationship with Connor Money, which is said to have occurred between September 1, 2021, and December 31, 2022. Money is currently serving a nine-year sentence for causing death by dangerous driving, stemming from a high-speed car crash at 147mph while evading police, which resulted in the death of his best friend. Money is not facing charges for his alleged relationship with Dale.
Furthermore, Dale is charged with conspiring with Shahid Sharif, Lilea Sallis, 27, of Brighton, and others unknown, to bring controlled drugs into the Category B prison, HMP Swaleside, where Sharif was incarcerated. Sharif, who appeared via video-link from HMP Manchester, is also separately charged with possessing a mobile phone in HMP Brixton and HMP Wandsworth during the same period.
Dale was granted bail following today’s hearing. A plea and trial preparation hearing is scheduled for June 6, 2025, at Southwark Crown Court. Judge Justin Cole has set a trial date for October 21, 2025, which is expected to last between two and three weeks. Sallis was also bailed for a plea and trial preparation hearing in two weeks.
