A New Era of Leadership Rooted in Royal Heritage and Visionary Development
Prince Adebowale Emmanuel Ogunwo, a prince of the Fusengbuwa ruling house and scion of the esteemed Jadiara lineage, has formally announced his intention to succeed as the Awujale—the traditional monarch and paramount ruler of Ijebuland. This declaration signals a significant moment in the kingdom’s history, heralding renewed hopes for unity, cultural revival, and sustainable progress.
Royal Lineage and Legacy
Prince Ogunwo hails from the illustrious Jadiara branch of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. His heritage traces back to Omooba Adeajo, son of the renowned Oba Jadiara, a past Awujale who left a profound legacy in the kingdom’s leadership lineage. The prince’s grandfather, Otunba Z. A. Ogunwo, was a respected businessman known for founding Charity Transport, a venture that solidified the family’s commitment to community development and enterprise.
This royal lineage has imbued Prince Ogunwo with a deep sense of responsibility and devotion to the welfare of Ijebuland and its people.
Professional and Leadership Credentials
Beyond his royal bloodline, Prince Adebowale Ogunwo is an accomplished geoscientist and industry leader with over 17 years of experience in oil and gas exploration, production, and investment across Africa and Europe. His career began with Degeconek Nigeria Limited and evolved significantly during his tenure at Halliburton Energy Services, where he held various technical and managerial roles.
Prince Ogunwo’s expertise spans collaborations with major players such as ENI, Shell Petroleum, NNPC, and regional operators like Seplat and Oando. Currently, he manages geoscience operations at Victory Energy Angola and serves on the board of Sonar Energy, facilitating strategic partnerships and capital raising for exploration projects.
Vision for Ijebuland’s Future
Prince Ogunwo’s leadership vision combines tradition with modern development strategies. If installed as Awujale, he pledges to:
- Revitalize and safeguard Ijebuland’s cultural institutions and heritage.
- Drive industrial and agricultural initiatives to create self-reliant, sustainable communities.
- Optimize the use of natural resources, notably bitumen deposits, to boost the local economy.
- Foster international collaborations that enhance education, infrastructure, and technology.
- Empower youth and entrepreneurs, positioning Ijebuland as a center of excellence and innovation.
He emphasizes that the Awujale throne represents not only power but a solemn duty to serve and uplift all Ijebu people, both at home and in the diaspora.
Commitment to Unity and Progress
With humility, Prince Ogunwo seeks the endorsement of the Fusengbuwa ruling house elders and the broader Ijebu community. He envisions a leadership that unites diverse stakeholders—traditional councillors, age grades, and community leaders—to forge a future where cultural pride and economic opportunity thrive side by side.
He concludes with a call for divine guidance and communal support to lead Ijebuland into this promising new chapter.
