In a rare and spectacular display of statesmanship and personal camaraderie, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took center stage on Friday, February 6, 2026, as he assumed the role of “Father of the Day” for ten children of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle.
The grand ceremony, held at the National Mosque in Abuja, transformed the capital into a hub of high-level diplomacy and celebration. Matawalle, the former Governor of Zamfara State, achieved a remarkable family milestone by giving out five daughters in marriage—Maryam, Safiyya, Farida, Nana Firdausi, and Aisha—while simultaneously welcoming five daughters-in-law as his sons—Ibrahim, Abdul Jalal, Surajo, Bello, and Fahad—took their vows.
President Tinubu, acting as the representative for the Matawalle family, formally received the brides and gave his blessings to the grooms. His presence underscored a deep-seated bond with the Minister, elevating the private union into a significant national event.
