Portable Assaulted in Custody Amid Baby Mama Dispute

Ogun State Police Command has ordered an investigation into a viral video showing Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, allegedly assaulted while in custody.  The footage, widely shared on social media platform X, depicts the handcuffed and shirtless artist tearfully pleading on a couch in what appears to be a police detention area.

Incident Background

Portable’s arrest stems from a January 1, 2026, altercation at his bar in Ogun State with Omobolarinde Akinyanju, known as Ashabi Simple, one of his baby mamas.  Ashabi accused him of slapping her, seizing phones, and threatening her family with an axe during a dispute over her status as a wife versus baby mama. Police Response

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed Portable remains detained but strongly condemned the alleged beating.  He emphasized that filming suspects endangers investigations and violates protocol, stating no one should face such treatment regardless of status.  An internal probe is underway, with culpable officers to face legal action.
