Ibadan Poly Names Ojewunmi as Acting Registrar

​The Governing Council of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has announced the appointment of Mrs. Olufunto Abimbola Ojewunmi as the institution’s Acting Registrar. Her appointment follows the retirement of the former Acting Registrar, Mr. Joseph Adewumi Ogunjimi, who officially stepped down after reaching the mandatory statutory age of 65.

​Mrs. Ojewunmi, a veteran administrator, assumed her new responsibilities effective March 23, 2026. According to a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mogaji Soladoye Adewole, the appointment is for an initial period of six months.

​A Career Built on Excellence

​A native of Ibadan born into the Fadipe family, Mrs. Ojewunmi has dedicated over three decades to the service of the premier technical institution. She joined The Polytechnic, Ibadan, in 1992 as an Administrative Officer and rose steadily through the ranks to the position of Senior Deputy Registrar.

​Prior to this elevation, she was the Deputy Registrar in charge of the Personnel Unit. Her career trajectory within the polytechnic is marked by diverse leadership roles, including:

• ​Faculty Officer: Serving across multiple faculties, most recently the Faculty of Science.

• ​Continuing Education Centre (CEC): Serving as Deputy Registrar.

• ​Governance: Representing the Rector as the Acting Chairman of the Governing Board for The Polytechnic, Ibadan High School for several years.

​Academic and Professional Pedigree

​The new Acting Registrar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from the University of Lagos.

​Her expertise is further bolstered by international professional affiliations; she is a recognized member of the Association of Higher Education Professionals and the Association of University Administrators, both based in the United Kingdom.

​Beyond her professional life, Mrs. Ojewunmi is described as a devoted Christian and is happily married with children. Her appointment is seen as a strategic move to ensure administrative continuity and stability within the institution during this transitional period.
