The Nigeria Police will arraign the Director General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, Adeniyi Adeyemi, before the Federal High Court on Tuesday, ValidViewNetwork reports.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the fresh case centres on allegations of forgery, impersonation, and related offences.

Police file fresh charges

The police filed an eight count charge against Adeyemi and two others.

The case carries suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025.

Police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki filed the charge on November 27, 2025.

Investigators alleged that Adeyemi operated a fictitious government agency.

They said the agency functioned from the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja.

Police arrested Adeyemi after investigations into the alleged activities.

Court adjourned plea

The matter first came before Justice Mohammed Umar on June 16.

Adeyemi did not take his plea.

The court heard that he was indisposed.

Justice Umar adjourned the case.

Presidency ordered investigation

President Bola Tinubu earlier directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to investigate the agency.

The Presidency ordered the investigation within 30 days.

Key witnesses listed

The prosecution listed several prominent witnesses.

They include the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila.

Other witnesses include Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede, and Ituah Sylvester.

Civil servants Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu will also testify.

Police also listed Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu, and Wakili Saidu.

Investigators said they allegedly worked with the non existent agency.

Joy Ngwoke and Ven Okoriko also appear on the witness list.

Documents to be tendered

Police plan to tender the investigation report during the trial.

The prosecution also listed Gbajabiamila’s petition dated October 17, 2025.

Investigators will present an alleged fake presidential appointment letter dated March 8, 2024.

Other documents include correspondence with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The prosecution also listed documents relating to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Additional evidence includes requests sent to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

Witness statements and photographs also form part of the evidence.

Police said they may call additional witnesses during the trial, ValidViewNetwork reports.

Opposition faults Senate

Opposition leaders criticised the Senate for declining an independent investigation.

They insisted lawmakers should examine how the agency entered the 2026 Appropriation Act.

They argued that the ICPC investigation alone would not restore public confidence.

Parties demand accountability

The Nigeria Democratic Congress described the matter as a major institutional scandal.

Its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, urged the Senate to investigate the appropriation process.

He said public office holders must remain accountable.

Former African Democratic Congress National Chairman Ralph Nwosu also criticised public institutions.

He accused democratic institutions of failing their oversight responsibilities.

ADC seeks independent inquiry

The African Democratic Congress rejected investigations by only the Senate and ICPC.

National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi called for an independent panel.

He said respected Nigerians should investigate every institution linked to the controversy.

Abdullahi also urged due process for everyone mentioned in the matter.

He said public confidence would improve if investigations remained transparent.

Labour Party backs legislative probe

The Labour Party welcomed President Tinubu’s directive to the ICPC.

However, the party also supported a separate National Assembly investigation.

National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa said lawmakers should explain how the allocation entered the budget.

He said Nigerians deserve transparency throughout the appropriation process.

Senate maintains position

Senator Kawu Sumaila earlier urged the Senate to investigate the allocation.

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin ruled that lawmakers should await the ICPC investigation.

Sumaila later insisted that lawmakers must examine how the allocation entered the national budget.

The Presidency maintains that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council has no legal existence.

Tuesday’s arraignment is expected to open a new phase in the controversial PFIPC saga, while growing calls for transparency continue to place pressure on law enforcement agencies, the National Assembly, and other institutions to establish the facts and restore public confidence, ValidViewNetwork reports.
