The Nigeria Police Force has vehemently refuted a widely circulated video online that falsely alleges a police helicopter was used to deliver food items to bandits in Kogi State. In a press statement issued today, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force clarified that the video depicted a legitimate joint security operation conducted on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in the Obajana axis of Kogi State.
According to the statement, the operation involved a collaborative effort between the Police, local vigilante groups, and hunters, aimed at combating the prevalent issues of banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the region. The police helicopter was deployed to provide crucial aerial support and surveillance for the ground forces actively engaged in the tactical operation.
ACP Adejobi strongly condemned the “misleading and false narrative” associated with the video, urging the public to dismiss these “unfounded and mischievous claims.” He emphasized the importance of citizens relying solely on official police communication channels for accurate and verified information concerning security operations.
The Force reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians and pledged to continue working in concert with relevant stakeholders to bolster public safety and national security across the country.
