The recovered arsenal includes an AK-47 rifle and its magazine, a sub-machine gun (SMG), two Dane guns, 42 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 84 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and twenty cartridges. Additionally, six mobile phones and ₦330,000 in cash were confiscated at the site.
The Joint Task Force has secured all the recovered items and intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects. Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of JTF Operation Enduring Peace, affirmed the task force’s unwavering commitment to employing all lawful measures to dismantle criminal networks facilitating the proliferation of illicit weapons within the Joint Operations Area (JOA).
This operation underscores ongoing military initiatives to restore peace and security in Plateau State, which has witnessed episodes of violence linked to illegal arms trading and criminal activities. The JTF remains resolute in its mandate to protect communities and ensure the rule of law prevails in volatile regions.
