The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called for a transparent investigation into the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State, that claimed the lives of all 32 people aboard.
The party expressed condolences to the families of the victims and the Nigerian Air Force.
The crash involved an ATR-42 aircraft with registration number NGR 931, which was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos.
PARTY DEMANDS ANSWERS
The PDP said the investigation should be thorough and transparent enough to establish the circumstances that led to the crash. The call comes after President Bola Tinubu directed the Nigerian Air Force to investigate the tragedy.
WHY TRANSPARENCY MATTERS
The demand for transparency is particularly important because military aviation investigations can involve technical, operational and security information.
A credible investigation should nevertheless establish the relevant facts while protecting genuinely sensitive national-security information where necessary.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the immediate priority remains the families of the 32 victims, while the longer-term responsibility is to establish what caused the crash and whether any lessons can prevent a recurrence.
Political reactions should not replace technical investigation. The evidence must ultimately determine the explanation for the tragedy.
