The police in Rivers State have initiated an investigation into the killing of an unidentified man by a suspected cultist in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The incident occurred on Thursday night along the Nanka/Lumumba Diobu axis, between Mile 2 and Mile 3.
According to reports, the victim was shot dead by about three gunmen who trailed him to a location where he had gone to buy noodles.
He was shot in the head immediately after leaving the shop, causing panic among residents in the area.

An anonymous source described the incident, stating that the assailants, believed to be cult members, quickly fled the scene after the shooting, prompting people to seek refuge in their homes and shops.
While some speculated about the motive behind the killing, suggesting an intra-cult war over territorial control, the police dismissed these claims.
Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident and clarified that it was not related to a cult war but involved a targeted attack by cult members.
She assured that investigations were underway to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
