In a heartfelt message to mark the Eid-el-Mawlid 2025 celebrations, the Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abduraheem Bayo Lawal, extended warm congratulations to Muslims in Oyo State and across Nigeria. He urged the faithful to utilize this sacred occasion to offer prayers for the peace, unity, and development of both the state and the nation.
Speaking through the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the Acting Governor underscored the profound spiritual significance of Eid-el-Mawlid, which commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). He highlighted that the festival presents Muslims with a cherished opportunity to draw closer to Allah through worship and seek divine guidance on the myriad challenges facing the society.
Barrister Lawal expressed gratitude to the Muslim community for their steadfast support to the Seyi Makinde administration over the past six years and several months. Stressing that the administration’s commitment to sustainable development remains unwavering, he called on the Muslim Ummah to continue their prayers and collective backing as the government advances toward completing its mission.
He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in ensuring security during the festive period, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities to aid prompt action.
The Acting Governor’s goodwill message also reflected the broader context of national challenges, including security concerns and socio-economic hardships, which make the prayers and support of all citizens even more vital at this time.
“As we embrace the joy of Eid-el-Mawlid, let us all unite in prayers for our beloved state and country. Our government remains dedicated to protecting lives and property, but we need the cooperation of every resident. Together, we can build a more peaceful and prosperous Oyo State,” he concluded, wishing all Muslims a blessed Eid Mubarak.
Eid-el-Mawlid, observed in the Islamic month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, is a period marked by spiritual reflection, communal prayers, and charity. It is recognized nationwide as a public holiday, underscoring Nigeria’s rich religious diversity and the significance of Islamic heritage.
