Osimhen Snubs Saudi Millions, Prioritizes European Stay Amidst Transfer Buzz

LAGOS, Nigeria – Super Eagles sensation Victor Osimhen has definitively closed the door on a lucrative move to Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal, turning down an astounding fifth offer and unequivocally stating his desire to remain in Europe.

The 26-year-old Napoli star, a pivotal figure in their 2022/2023 Serie A triumph, is reportedly focused on continuing his career in a more competitively challenging environment.

The news was confirmed by journalist Buchi Laba via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, who revealed Osimhen’s resolute decision. “Victor Osimhen officially rejects Al Hilal 5th offer,” Laba posted, adding, “He has decided to not move there no matter the money offered. Case closed.”

This declaration puts an end to weeks of intense speculation linking the Nigerian forward with a mega-money transfer to the Middle East.

Sources close to Osimhen indicate that his priority is to meticulously evaluate the best sporting project rather than succumb to financial incentives. “Main priority is to stay back in Europe,” Laba further elaborated, hinting at significant interest from a “top Italian club” and other prominent European teams.

Osimhen’s commitment to European football comes amidst a flurry of transfer rumors. While specific club names are still under wraps, reports suggest strong interest from several Premier League powerhouses and other Serie A contenders.

His impressive form for Napoli, culminating in their historic Scudetto win, has undoubtedly made him one of the most sought-after strikers in world football. Last season, he further showcased his versatility and winning mentality during a successful loan spell at Galatasaray, where he helped them clinch a domestic double.

The rejection of Al-Hilal’s persistent advances, reportedly including a staggering €75 million transfer fee and a lucrative personal contract, underscores Osimhen’s unwavering focus on athletic ambition.

This stance aligns with recent sentiments from former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel, who earlier stated it would be “a shame if Osimhen moves to Saudi,” emphasizing the importance of staying in top European leagues for his development.

As the transfer window heats up, all eyes will be on Victor Osimhen’s next move. His decision to resist the allure of Saudi riches signals a clear intent to continue competing at the highest level of European football, promising an exciting new chapter for the prolific Nigerian striker.
