ORILE-IGANMU, LAGOS — The volatile streets of Orile-Iganmu were further stained by blood on Wednesday night as a suspected high-ranking member of the Eiye Confraternity, known locally as “Tufe,” was assassinated in what security sources describe as a “calculated revenge mission.”
The victim was reportedly ambushed and killed at the popular Olaiya Junction, near the Falohun area, while patronizing a local herb vendor. Witnesses described a scene of brief but intense chaos as gunmen, suspected to be members of the Neo Black Movement (NBM), also known as “Aye,” tracked Tufe to the spot before opening fire.
A Cycle of Bloodshed
Intelligence suggests this latest killing is a direct response to the murder of an NBM member, Olumide (alias Okoro), who was killed this past Sunday, February 15. Tufe had long been on the radar of rival groups; he was allegedly linked to several violent incursions, including a botched assassination attempt on a rival identified as “Ata.” In that specific encounter, local lore suggests the target survived despite being shot at close range.
Last night, however, Tufe’s luck ran out. Reports indicate that the squad responsible for his death may have been led by the very individuals he previously targeted, turning the hunter into the hunted.
Rising Tension in Orile
The brazen nature of the attack—occurring at a public junction—has sparked fresh fears of a full-blown gang war in the Iganmu axis. Residents are urging the Lagos State Police Command to increase patrols, fearing that the Eiye group may already be planning a “counter-retaliation.”
As of Thursday morning, security presence in the area remained light, though local vigilantes have advised residents to avoid late-night movements near Olaiya and Falohun.
