Ondo State Police Command detectives have arrested two suspects in a high-profile ₦33 million fraud case involving a sham UK visa scheme. The operation followed a petition from Legal Komfort & Associates representing Mr. Adeyeye Aderemi, a resident of Idanre in Ondo State. Authorities launched a thorough probe into charges of obtaining money under false pretenses and fraudulent conversion.
Incident Details
In January 2025, suspect Olowookere Bunmi allegedly collaborated with accomplices to swindle Mr. Aderemi by promising a UK visa for his son. Bunmi reportedly pocketed ₦28 million of the total ₦33 million paid, then funneled it to co-suspect Akinlogbe Olakitan in Akure. Olakitan claimed he passed the funds to Adegboyega Samuel, who remains at large, prompting a police manhunt aided by advanced technology.
Arrests and Probe
Swift police action led to the duo’s detention in Akure, where interrogations yielded vital leads. The suspects face court charges once investigations wrap up, under directives from the Commissioner of Police. This bust underscores ongoing efforts to dismantle visa scams preying on desperate families seeking overseas opportunities.
