From December 1989
Segun worked with the law firm of Abayomi Sogbesan & Co. and also with the law firm of GOK Ajayi & Co and He later established his own law firm Olusegun Awolowo and co after his call to bar
President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration
He served in President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration as a Special Assistant on Traditional Institutions, Legal Due Diligence and Legal Matters.

President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua ‘s administration
Mr. Awolowo was appointed by the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua as Special Assistant and worked with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Abuja as Secretary for Social Development and Secretary of Transport from 2007 to 2011.

President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration
President Goodluck Jonathan appointed him as Executive Director/CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council in 2013 and was further extended by President Mohamadu Buhari in 2018 for another four years. He was unanimously elected as the President of National Trade Promotion Organizations (TPOs) from ECOWAS member States.

President Muhammadu Buhari ‘s administration
He was reappointed as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer by President Muhammadu Buhari in February 2018 for another four year tenure. In June 2019, the NEPC under his leadership planned a partnership with retail company, Shoprite for the latter to export Nigerian products to other African countries and beyond

President of the ECOWAS Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Network
Mr Olusegun Awolowo is the Pioneer President of the ECOWAS Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Network, which ensures the equalisation of opportunities for all ECOWAS member States to benefit from the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Trade Expert
His unique ability as a team player coupled with a rare sense of purpose and drive has enabled Segun to successfully reposition Nigerian non oil export products globally. Today, Nigerian non oil exports continue to expand with a wide range of otherwise unknown brands, now enjoying international patronage.

Personal life
Mr Olusegun Awolowo and his wife, Bola, are the proud parents of two daughters and a son; Seun , Yimika and Segun Jnr respectively.
