Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was honored with the esteemed traditional title of “Sarauniyar Yaki” (Queen Warrior) by the Akko Emirate in Gombe State on October 2, 2025. The prestigious chieftaincy title was bestowed upon her by the Lamido Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, during a ceremonial event in recognition of her unwavering dedication to championing the rights of women and children.
The conferment took place amid the First Lady’s two-day official visit to Gombe State, during which she inaugurated the state’s maiden Health Summit and commissioned key healthcare facilities, including the Federal Medical Center in Kumo. These engagements highlight her commitment to improving maternal and child health across Nigeria.
Expressing profound gratitude and humility, Senator Tinubu emphasized her resolve to continue advocating for vulnerable groups, particularly the girl child. She also called on traditional rulers and community leaders to collaborate and support these humanitarian efforts.
The event was attended by prominent figures including Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo. Senator Tinubu’s conferment as “Queen Warrior” adds to her growing list of chieftaincy honors, symbolizing her impactful role in social development and national unity.
Throughout her visit, the First Lady also launched the Renewed Hope Initiative’s “Flow With Confidence,” a nationwide menstrual health intervention aimed at providing sanitary hygiene packs to schoolgirls in rural areas, further underscoring her commitment to girl child education and well-being.
This traditional accolade from the historically significant Akko Emirate marks another milestone in Senator Tinubu’s advocacy journey, reinforcing her status as a leading figure in promoting empowerment and welfare across Nigeria.
