Following the appointment of Mrs Emilomo Joy Alawode as the third substantive Registrar of McPherson University, Associate Professor Kayode Ogunjobi FHEA, FFAN has joined other eminent Nigerians in congratulating her A describing the development as a well-deserved elevation earned through years of dedicated service and excellence.
In a congratulatory message made available to the public, Ogunjobi said the appointment is not only a personal milestone for Mrs Alawode but also a moment of collective pride for all who have followed her distinguished career in university administration and public relations.
According to him, Mrs Alawode made an indelible mark during her tenure as Public Relations Officer of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), where she became the face and voice of the institution at a time when social media visibility was not yet widespread.
“Though social media was not in vogue then, UNAAB was everywhere. The university enjoyed remarkable visibility, earning awards, recognitions and national acclaim. That era remains unforgettable,” Ogunjobi stated, adding that McPherson University is “in for greatness” under her leadership.
He further recalled his personal and professional encounters with the new Registrar, including her role as Master of Ceremonies at his wedding in 2006, which he described as elegant, balanced and memorable.
“She understood exactly what I wanted and delivered flawlessly”.
While emphasising the golden heart of the newly appointed Registrar, Ogunjobi narrated how she went ahead to do a newspaper advert for change of name of his wife and handed it to him on arrival from honey moon. “ By the time I resumed work after the wedding, she handed over the newspaper advert reflecting my wife’s change of name — something we had not even thought about at the time.”
Ogunjobi also highlighted her work ethic and trust in colleagues, noting that she often delegated him to represent her at high-profile meetings, a confidence he described as “deeply humbling.”
Describing Mrs Alawode as a workaholic and forward-thinking administrator, Ogunjobi said she was among the early adopters of computer-based administration, often concluding critical assignments in unconventional places.
“To her, everywhere is an office — with a laptop, a pen and paper. Many assignments were concluded at car parks and even by the roadside at Obantoko. Her slogans were always firm: ‘Ise gbodo lo’ meaning work must be completed and ‘no excuse for excuse’,” he recalled.
He also praised her administrative writing style, which he said is marked by clarity, purpose and effectiveness, as well as her eye for aesthetics and ability to create inspiring work environments.
Ogunjobi expressed confidence that McPherson University would experience rapid growth under her watch, predicting institutional transformation, improved work culture and a leadership style rooted in humility and character.
“Above all, Mrs Emilomo Joy Alawode is a believer, an embodiment of humility and a lover of all that is positive. Her confidence is quiet, her authority natural, and her leadership flows from character rather than position,” he said.
He concluded by congratulating her once again, noting that her “light will shine even brighter” in her new assignment as Registrar of McPherson University.
