The esteemed Ogungbe family of Igbogbele, Badagry West, has flagged off a robust back-to-school outreach program across four primary institutions within the Badagry division. The philanthropic drive forms a core component of the week-long lineup of events commemorating the 40th memorial anniversary of their late patriarch, Chief Augustine Ogungbe Hungbeji.

Beneficiary institutions for the educational intervention included Methodist Primary School in Sawa, Muslim Primary School in Badagry, Sacred Heart Nursery and Primary School, and Verosema Nursery and Primary School. During the visits, hundreds of enthusiastic pupils received practical learning essentials, comprising school bags, exercise books, and water bottles designed to ease their academic resumption.

According to the family, the initiative was conceptualized to immortalize the remarkable ideals of late Pa Augustine Ogungbe Hungbeji—fondly remembered as “Tata”—while actively channeling resources into grassroots human capital development.
Recalling his legacy during the outreach, Mrs. Bola Ogungbe Gogo portrayed her late father as a quintessential community builder, statesman, and philanthropist whose footprints remain deeply embedded in the annals of the Badagry Division. She noted his historical contributions to local infrastructure, including his pivotal role in the construction of the Igbogbele Bridge, alongside his meritorious service as a representative councillor for the entire division.

Addressing the student beneficiaries, Pastor Samuel Ogungbe underscored literacy as the bedrock of societal advancement. Interacting closely with the children, he popularized the inspiring mantra “IWE NI” (education is key), motivating them to maintain unwavering discipline, diligence, and faith. The session concluded with a spiritual intercession led by him, invoking divine guidance, academic excellence, and a prosperous future for the pupils.
Echoing similar sentiments, Hon. Princess Sesi Ogungbe, Vice Chairman of Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and daughter of the late icon, emphasized that her father’s benevolent lifestyle continues to yield enduring goodwill four decades after his passing.

”I can never forget him, and his good works still speak volumes to this day. We are executing this outreach as a practical demonstration of love and a continuation of the values he stood for. The Ogungbes strongly believe in education,” she stated.
The outreach recorded active participation from other prominent family members, including Mrs. Tosin Sanni (née Ogungbe), Mrs. Semande Travih (née Ogungbe), Mrs. Joy Yomi Ogungbe, alongside grandchildren and well-wishers.
The commemorative activities are scheduled to reach a grand crescendo with a celebratory reception slated for Saturday, October 3, 2026.
