Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has announced plans to strengthen collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to enhance security and promote aviation development in the state. This announcement came during a meeting with the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja, where they discussed mutual interests, particularly regarding the Gateway International Airport.

Abiodun emphasized the importance of positioning the Gateway International Airport as a significant hub for trade, investment, and logistics, highlighting the NAF’s crucial role in ensuring the airport’s security and operational efficiency. A key outcome of their discussions was the proposal to establish an Air Force base at the airport, which is expected to improve safety, stimulate economic activities, and attract more investors to Ogun State.
The governor expressed gratitude to Air Marshal Abubakar for his proactive approach and willingness to support this initiative. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with key security agencies to ensure the safety and prosperity of its residents. The establishment of an Air Force base is seen as a vital step in reinforcing Ogun State’s security architecture and enhancing its status as an economic powerhouse.
“We appreciate the leadership of the Nigerian Air Force and look forward to a productive collaboration that benefits our state and the nation at large,” Governor Abiodun stated.
