The arrests followed an operation by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the state police command. The initial arrest of Sunday Akintobi took place on Monday, April 22, 2025. Subsequent investigations led to the apprehension of the other two suspects.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ogun State, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Omolola Odutola, stated that detectives recovered human body parts during searches conducted at the residences of the accused.
In a particularly disturbing discovery, CSP Odutola revealed that cerebral bones were recovered from a location in Kobape town, along Abiola Way in Abeokuta, which was deceptively disguised as a Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
In response to these alarming findings, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to launch a thorough and discreet investigation into the matter. The police are expected to release further details as the investigation progresses.
