The Ogun State Police Command has escalated its crackdown on online misconduct by filing a six-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abeokuta against social media blogger Adetoun Onajobi, widely known as @justadetoun. The charges stem from allegations of cyberbullying, disseminating false information, and defamatory attacks targeting Governor Dapo Abiodun and the state government. Police invited her on January 2, 2026, following viral videos where she accused the state of lacking functional ambulances—claims linked to a December 27, 2025, crash that killed associates of boxer Anthony Joshua—and hurled insults at the governor, including unverified allegations of embezzlement and personal misconduct.
Blogger’s Evasion Tactics Exposed
Onajobi failed to honor the invitation, citing medical reasons backed by a report that police investigations proved fake. The issuing doctor was arrested, confessed to fabricating it on her instructions via a lawyer-facilitated call, and now faces charges of conspiracy, forgery, and obstruction at a Magistrates’ Court. Despite follow-up summons, the blogger remains at large, prompting intensified police efforts to apprehend her.
Backlash from Student Groups
National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have demanded her prosecution, rejecting her ambulance claims as baseless attempts to discredit the administration. They affirmed ambulances operate across Ogun’s 20 local areas, especially at highway hotspots, and condemned her “expletives and curses” as crossing into criminal territory despite constitutional free speech protections.
Police Stance on Digital Crimes
DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer, emphasized the command’s commitment to curbing cyber offenses while clarifying that expression does not shield criminality. This case highlights rising scrutiny on social media influencers amid Nigeria’s evolving cybercrimes enforcement.
