Obi Vows to Return to Benue After Convoy Blocked

​Peter Obi has promised to revisit Benue State following an incident where youths allegedly mobilized by a senior state official blocked his convoy from reaching Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area.

​The political figure had traveled to the state to offer condolences and relief materials to families affected by insecurity and recent violence. According to reports, the procession was intercepted along the Makurdi-Gboko route by demonstrators whom Obi claims were orchestrated by a Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor.

​Condemning the obstruction, Obi emphasized that citizens should be free to visit and support distressed communities without political interference. He noted that the demonstrators were exploited victims of poverty and insecurity, issues he argued must be tackled head-on through economic empowerment rather than political maneuvering.

​While the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied any involvement in the blockade, Obi maintained that such actions highlight deeper governance and security challenges. Despite the setback, he affirmed his commitment to completing the visit, stating that he intends to return to the state multiple times to deliver support to the affected communities.
