On January 12, 2026, around 3:00 a.m., Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel acting on credible intelligence intercepted a Dangote-branded truck with registration number MDB 360 XA near Gital town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area. The vehicle, purportedly heading to eastern Nigeria, was initially loaded with bags of chicken feed and five pairs of slippers, but a thorough search revealed 80 pieces of stolen railway tracks hidden underneath. The suspects claimed they were transporting poultry supplies southward.
Suspects in Custody
The five arrested individuals hail from diverse northern and southern states: Adam Kolo (42, Borno), Samuel Musa (44, Yobe), Solomon Jankaro (40, Niger), Emmanuel Collins (26, Enugu), and Sunday David (20, Enugu). Investigations point to a larger syndicate, with the truck owner “Mr. John” and driver Auwal still at large; NSCDC vows to apprehend them. Additional exhibits seized include the truck and a Lexus RX 330 (registration BWR 60 DN).

Broader Security Efforts
Bauchi NSCDC Commandant Oloyede Nelson commended his team’s vigilance in safeguarding national assets amid rising vandalism cases. The command also arrested a motorcycle theft suspect on January 14 in Wuntin Dada, recovering items worth over ₦2.02 million linked to interstate sales. Officials urge residents near infrastructure sites to report suspicious activities promptly.
