Nigeria’s Passport Reform Brings Relief to Diaspora Citizens as Digital Processing Expands

Thousands of Nigerians living abroad are beginning to experience the benefits of the Federal Government’s ongoing passport reform programme, with improvements in digital processing and contactless passport renewal significantly reducing long standing challenges associated with obtaining travel documents.

For many years, Nigerians residing in Europe, North America, Asia, and other parts of the world complained of prolonged waiting periods, repeated embassy visits, and bureaucratic hurdles in passport renewal processes. The latest reforms are designed to address these concerns through technology driven solutions and streamlined procedures.

The contactless passport renewal system allows eligible Nigerians abroad to complete significant portions of the renewal process remotely, reducing the need for frequent physical appearances at diplomatic missions.
