Shocking CCTV footage has revealed the brutal abuse of 88-year-old dementia patient John Attard by his Nigerian carer, Bilikesu Olagunju, just days before he died. The incident occurred on Christmas Eve 2022 in Attard’s home in Bexley, Kent, only six days after Olagunju began working as his carer.

The 42-year-old was filmed violently manhandling the frail pensioner—stripping him, dragging him across the floor, and threatening to beat him. Despite Attard’s repeated cries of pain, Olagunju ignored his pleas and even poured marmalade into his coffee, knowing he was diabetic. The following day, Attard was found unresponsive with blood on his face and died ten days later without regaining consciousness.
Olagunju, employed by Unique Personnel UK at the time, pleaded guilty to ill-treating or willfully neglecting a person lacking mental capacity. She was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court to six weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete 50 hours of unpaid work.
The victim’s son, Chris Attard, condemned the sentence as an “insult,” insisting that the carer’s actions contributed to his father’s death and warning that without the CCTV evidence, such abuse might have continued unchecked.
