Nigerian Army Mourns Fallen Soldiers in Delta State, Vows Justice

Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, has expressed profound dismay over the recent killings of military personnel in Delta State, describing the incidents as deeply demoralizing.

He lamented that those responsible for the deaths were individuals whom the soldiers had sworn to protect, highlighting that the personnel were carrying out their duties legitimately when they were tragically killed.

Speaking at the burial ceremony for the fallen soldiers in Abuja, Lagbaja emphasized the devastating impact of the killings, revealing that the actions of the culprits had left behind 21 orphaned children and 10 widowed women.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the slain soldiers, assuring them of the unwavering support of the Nigerian Army and the nation in their time of grief.

Despite the setbacks, Lagbaja affirmed the Army’s resolve to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

He reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to its constitutional duties and pledged to work tirelessly, in collaboration with other security agencies and the community, to ensure the swift apprehension of those responsible for the heinous crime.

Lagbaja emphasized the importance of cooperation from all stakeholders, particularly the affected community, in facilitating the successful conduct of search and recovery operations.

He reassured the nation that the Nigerian Army remains resolute and undeterred in its mission to safeguard the country’s security and uphold its constitutional obligations.
