Nigerian Social Media Stars VDM and Mr Jollof Deboarded After Airplane Fight

ASABA, Nigeria — A physical altercation between two prominent Nigerian social media figures, Martins Vincent Otse (known as VeryDarkMan) and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi (popularly called Mr Jollof), disrupted a United Nigeria Airlines flight, prompting the airline to deboard the duo and hand them over to airport security.

The incident unfolded during the boarding process for Flight UN0523 from Asaba International Airport to Lagos on the morning of November 17. According to a statement released by United Nigeria Airlines on their official platform, the confrontation escalated quickly, forcing the in-flight crew to intervene in line with global aviation safety protocols. Crew members acted swiftly to de-escalate the situation and to ensure the safety and comfort of other passengers.

“Both passengers were deboarded without delay and handed over to security authorities for further investigation,” the airline affirmed. The flight departed on schedule after standard procedures were completed.

The confrontation follows weeks of a highly publicized online rivalry between VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof, characterized by heated exchanges and criticisms on social media platforms, drawing large public attention and sparking viral debates among their followers.

Eyewitnesses and video recordings circulated online reveal the altercation turned physical inside the aircraft cabin, with both parties exchanging heated words and blows. VeryDarkMan later disclosed he sustained a bite during the fight, intensifying the public discourse around the event.

Efforts to obtain an official comment from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority as of press time were unsuccessful.
