Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim has taken over as the 33rd Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna on Tuesday.

He took over from Major General JO Ochai, who had been in charge for almost two years.
The appointment highlights his extensive experience and dedication to military education, training, and operations within the Nigerian Army.
With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Ibrahim brings extensive experience in military education, training, and operations.
Born in Kaduna and hailing from Borno State, Ibrahim was commissioned into the Nigerian Army on September 19, 1992.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the NDA, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Ahmadu Bello University, and a master’s in strategic studies from the University of Ibadan.
Ibrahim has attended numerous military courses and held key positions in various battalions and units, including peacekeeping missions under the United Nations. His operational experience spans critical missions in Liberia, Sudan, and the Lake Chad Basin region.
As Commandant, Ibrahim is expected to leverage his vast experience to enhance the training and education of cadets, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet modern security challenges. Military analysts believe he is well-suited for the role, given his antecedents.
Ibrahim’s leadership and work have earned him several accolades, including the Grand Service Star, Distinguished Service Star, and national honours from Nigeria and Chad.
He is married with children and known for his interests in current affairs, sports, and charity work.
The NDA community and military stakeholders look forward to General Ibrahim’s leadership as he embarks on this critical role in shaping Nigeria’s military leadership.
