The Best Graduating student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Mr. Senibi Solomon Olaoluwa has relayed his experience on how neighbours had warned him of the possibility of developing a brain tumor for his love for reading.

Senibi shared his inspiring story in his Valedictory Speech delivered on behalf of the Graduating Class of 2023/2024 Academic Session at the 32nd Convocation Ceremony of FUNAAB, held on January 25, 2025.

Senibi who graduated from the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics, reflected on his journey at FUNAAB, expressing gratitude for the support of his family, lecturers, and mentors.

Despite facing criticism for his love of reading and being warned that excessive reading could lead to a brain tumor, and facing challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and industrial actions, Senibi noted that he maintained his dedication to his studies and credited his success to his reading habits.

He thanked his parents, siblings, and benefactors for their support, as well as his Professors and mentors for their guidance.

Senibi also acknowledged the role of the University in shaping his academic journey, commending the commitment to academic excellence and affordable student charges. He expressed his appreciation to his fellow students and friends, as well as the alumni and student body.

In his closing remarks, Senibi encouraged his classmates to pursue their goals with determination and to always give their best effort. He dedicated his achievement to Emeritus Professor Olufunmilayo Adebambo, the doyen of the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics of FUNAAB, for her significant contributions to research and development in agriculture.

As the graduating class of 2024 prepares to enter the world labour market, Senibi’s words serve as a reminder of the importance of dedication, hard work, and the support for others in achieving success.
