LAGOS – In a series of coordinated strikes, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled several international and local drug syndicates, resulting in the arrest of a China-based businessman, two Angolan nationals, and the uncovering of a “Colos” production factory in the heart of Lekki.
Airport Interceptions: The “Body Packers”
The agency’s offensive began at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, where three “body packers” were apprehended.
Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue, a 34-year-old businessman who recently relocated to Guangzhou, China, was intercepted on February 4th while boarding a Qatar Airways flight. Following a positive body scan, Ibeanu excreted 52 pellets of cocaine weighing approximately 735.95 grams.

Simultaneously in Kano, two Angolan citizens, Mbandu Martins Makiadi (50) and Ngoma Wilson Fernando (52), were arrested while attempting to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Istanbul. The duo, reportedly recruited by a Luanda-based spare parts dealer for a $3,000 fee, excreted a combined total of 184 wraps of cocaine (920g and 1.33kg respectively).
Crime from the Cell: The “Garri” Scheme
In a startling development, the NDLEA uncovered a trafficking plot orchestrated from within the Ikoyi Correctional Centre. Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, a convicted drug kingpin currently serving a five-year sentence, attempted to export 1.10kg of cocaine to London.

The illicit substance was ingeniously concealed within processed cassava granules (Garri). Despite his incarceration, Olashupo used his logistics company, “Dimeji Express Logistics,” to facilitate the shipment. His employee, Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan, was arrested at the Lagos airport while presenting the consignment for export.
Lekki Factory Raid and Unusual Concealments
In Lagos, operatives raided a four-bedroom duplex in Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, which served as a clandestine laboratory for “Colorado” (synthetic cannabis). The raid led to the recovery of 13.2kg of the drug and various precursor chemicals.

Other notable seizures included:
- The Toy Guitar Plot: In Abuja, a waybill from Enugu was found to contain “Canadian Loud” hidden inside a children’s toy guitar.
- The Ibadan Matriarch: Oluwayemisi Bunmi, 45, was arrested in Oyo State with a cache of Methamphetamine, Colos, and nearly ₦3 million in cash.
- The Forest Raid: In Edo State, five suspects were nabbed following a raid on the Yoruba Camp in Ovia North East LGA, yielding 563.5kg of skunk.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman of the NDLEA, praised the officers for their vigilance, particularly in uncovering the sophisticated methods used by traffickers to bypass security.
