NDC Debunks Viral Primary Election Results, Set to Unveil Official List Wednesday

The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has broken its silence over the purported results of its just-concluded nationwide primary elections currently making the rounds on social media, declaring them entirely fabricated and unauthorized.

​In an official press statement issued ahead of its crucial stakeholder meetings in Abuja, the party urged party faithful, political stakeholders, and the general public to completely disregard any figures or lists of winners currently in circulation.

​According to the statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the authentic outcomes of the shadow elections—which took place across the country on May 28 and 29, 2026—remain securely in the custody of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC). The party emphasized that the NEC retains the exclusive constitutional mandate to verify and release the final results.

​High-Stakes NEC Meeting Summoned in Abuja

​To resolve the impasse and finalize the collation process, the National Leader of the NDC, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, has officially summoned an emergency meeting of the party’s highest decision-making body.

​Members of the NEC have been directed to converge on the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for a mandatory pre-NEC consultative meeting on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. This will closely be followed by the main NEC plenary session on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, where the official results are expected to be ratified.

​”The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” Director stated, underscoring the party’s commitment to due process.

​Anxiety Mounts Over Flagbearer Lists

​The party’s clarification comes amid rising tensions and anxiety among aspirants and their supporters, many of whom had already begun celebrating based on unverified declarations online.

​By tying the formal announcement of the results to the submission of the final candidate roster to INEC, the NDC aims to prevent further misinformation, curb internal friction, and present a unified front ahead of the upcoming general elections.
