Mummy Wa Exposes Nollywood Secrets: Most Female Stars Are Prostitutes

Lagos — Popular Nigerian content creator and skit maker Kemi Ikuseedun, widely known as Mummy Wa, has stirred intense online controversy after alleging that a large number of women in the country’s entertainment industry survive on prostitution.

Speaking during an appearance on The Unserious Podcast alongside fellow media personalities, Mummy Wa questioned the legitimacy of the lavish lifestyles maintained by several female celebrities and socialites who lack visible, steady business ventures or corporate streams of income.

Drawing from her own experiences within the digital content ecosystem, she argued that the financial returns from merely going viral or accumulating social media followers do not match the extravagant assets displayed online.

”I am a content creator as well, I know how much we are making,” Mummy Wa stated during the heated exchange. “Like if you go viral the money will just come like that? It’s a lie.” She further challenged claims of alternative wealth, demanding transparent evidence of real investments rather than vague references to outside work.

The remarks immediately polarized the panel and viewers alike. Opposing voices on the show pushed back against the sweeping generalization, arguing that financial support from affluent partners—driven by popularity, beauty, or relationships—does not automatically equate to sex work. Other contributors noted that many female entertainers manage multiple legitimate entrepreneurial ventures, such as brand influencing, acting, and corporate endorsements.

However, Mummy Wa remained adamant, maintaining that a significant gap exists between declared creative outputs and actual financial net worths in the sector.

The comments have since triggered widespread debate across social media platforms, with industry watchers and fans sharply divided over accountability, wealth transparency, and the generalized stereotyping of women in Nigerian showbiz.
