Miraculous Survival: 20 Aboard Skydiving Plane Survive Tennessee Crash

Tullahoma, Tennessee – A skydiving plane carrying 20 people crashed shortly after takeoff from Tullahoma Regional Airport on Sunday, June 8, 2025, resulting in multiple injuries but, miraculously, no fatalities. The de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft went down in a field near the airport around 12:45 p.m. local time (1745 GMT).

According to authorities and eyewitnesses, the twin-engine plane, used for skydiving expeditions, appeared to clip a tree shortly after departing, before crashing into the terrain. The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that troopers assisted police at the scene on Old Shelbyville Road in central Coffee County.

While no deaths were reported, several individuals on board sustained injuries. City spokesman Lyle Russell stated that four people were taken to hospitals with serious injuries, with three airlifted and one transported by ground. Other passengers with minor injuries were treated at the scene.

There were no reported injuries on the ground, nor was there any damage to airport facilities.

Pictures shared on social media by the Tennessee Highway Patrol showed the small, white plane with its nose buried in the grass, and its tail and a wing separated from the fuselage.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident alongside the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to determine the exact cause of the crash. Records indicate the aircraft, built in 1967, had been involved in a previous runway collision in Georgia in 2019 but was subsequently repaired and returned to service.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid the crash site to allow emergency personnel and investigators to conduct their work safely.
