Family Appeals for Justice in Tottenham Shooting

The family of Mahad Abdi Mohamed, 27, who was fatally shot in Tottenham, north London, have made a heartfelt appeal for information to help solve his murder, which police believe was a tragic case of mistaken identity.

Mr. Abdi Mohamed was shot in the head on Waverley Road at approximately 8:45 pm on March 20, 2025. According to the Metropolitan Police, the suspects arrived in a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander, which was later found burned out nearby. Four men were arrested on suspicion of murder but have since been released on bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford, leading the investigation, described Mr. Abdi Mohamed as a “much-loved son, brother and father,” emphasizing the devastating impact of his death on his family. She stated that the suspects intended to target someone else and that Mahad was mistakenly killed in a premeditated attack.

“We believe this was a pre-planned shooting,” DCI Woodsford said. “Somebody out there knows something, and we urge anyone with information about the suspects or the burned vehicle to come forward. Witnesses are crucial to bringing those responsible to justice.”

Mahad’s younger sister, Amal Abdi Mohamed, 23, spoke emotionally about her brother’s character and the void his death has left. “He was a loving father to his five-year-old son and was planning to get married this summer. He worked at Waterloo Station and part-time security roles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Royal Ascot,” she said.

Amal described Mahad as someone who could “light up any room” and had a rare gift for making people feel valued. “A bullet didn’t just take his life; it tore through our family and our hearts. This senseless violence should never be normal,” she added.
