
Residents of the Magboro–Makogi community in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area have applauded the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun for the ongoing reconstruction of the vital 8.17-kilometre Magboro–Makogi Road. The project, featuring concrete interlocking, aims to provide a permanent solution to the chronic waterlogging that has long plagued the area and disrupted transportation.
During an on-site inspection led by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, community members expressed gratitude for the quality and high standards of the work in progress. Shop owners and residents alike described the infrastructural project as a pivotal development that would not only beautify the locality but also catalyze economic activities by improving accessibility.
Speaking on behalf of local businesses, Mr. Uche Okoro and Alhaji Wasiu Sanusi commended Governor Abiodun’s consistent dedication to infrastructural renewal across Ogun State. They noted the relief this project promises to bring to residents, traders, and commuters who have long suffered from the road’s deteriorated condition.
Although residents praised the progress, they appealed to contractors to expedite work, especially as traffic volumes surge along this key corridor. They reiterated strong support for the state government, seeing the project as a clear mark of responsive governance addressing the community’s needs.
Following the inspection, Commissioner Ade Akinsanya reaffirmed directives for the contractor to intensify activity during the dry season and complete the road promptly. “With the rains subsiding, we are leveraging this period to accelerate construction and ensure delivery of a durable road to global standards without delay,” he said.
Project Manager Mr. Jason Zhang confirmed steady progress and expressed appreciation for the cooperation from both residents and government officials, assuring that contractual specifications and timelines would be fully met.
The Magboro–Makogi road reconstruction falls within Ogun State’s broader ambitious infrastructural agenda, aimed at transforming its road network, reducing congestion, and enhancing connectivity to stimulate economic growth. The project has already seen significant phases completed, with asphalt paving underway to replace the battered old corridor .
