​ABUJA — A tragic tryst at a Gwarimpa guest house has culminated in a high-profile police investigation after a married woman allegedly fled the scene following the sudden death of her lover, leaving hotel staff to clandestinely dispose of the body under a bridge.

​The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command uncovered the grim sequence of events, which led to the arrest of the woman, Mrs. Rukayat Muhammed, alongside two members of the guest house staff.

​Addressing journalists during a parade of suspects at the command headquarters, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, detailed how a private liaison turned into a criminal cover-up.

​According to the police chief, Mrs. Muhammed—a resident of Garki Area 2—had checked into the Good Samaritan Guest House located along 2nd Avenue, Gwarimpa, alongside her alleged paramour for an intimate rendezvous. Mid-encounter, the man reportedly collapsed and died.

​Rather than raise an alarm or contact emergency services, the panic-stricken suspect allegedly stripped the room of the victim’s mobile phone and slipped away unnoticed by management.

​Hours later, staff members discovered the lifeless body inside the room. Fearing police scrutiny and potential damage to the establishment’s reputation, two employees—identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus—opted for a dangerous alternative. Instead of reporting the incident, the workers allegedly loaded the corpse into a vehicle, transported it away from Gwarimpa, and dumped it beneath the Katampe bridge in Kubwa.

​The incident came to light following a police investigation into the recovery of an unidentified corpse found under the Katampe bridge on August 26, 2026. Forensic tracking and preliminary inquiries tied the victim’s final movements to the Gwarimpa hospitality facility.

​Investigators soon unraveled the romantic entanglement, noting a curious detail: Mrs. Muhammed had allegedly saved the deceased man’s contact details under the alias “Safiyat” on her mobile phone to conceal their relationship.

​The Commissioner of Police confirmed that all primary suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution upon the conclusion of preliminary investigations. The command has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on criminal concealment and obstruction of justice.
