APO SIX RECKONING ARRIVES
Two decades after a tragedy that shook the nation’s conscience, Linda Ikeji Media is set to premiere its highly anticipated feature film, “The Night of June 7th,” in cinemas nationwide on August 28, 2026.
Written and produced media mogul Linda Ikeji and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Toka Mcbaror, the film revisits the harrowing 2005 extrajudicial killing of six young Nigerians in Apo, Abuja. The incident sparked widespread national outrage, years of relentless protests, and a landmark judiciary process that ultimately resulted in death sentences for two involved police officers.
Positioned as a powerful cinematic reckoning, the project stars a powerhouse ensemble cast featuring Gideon Okeke, Femi Branch, Ali Nuhu, and Charles Lenny.
Reflecting on the milestone return to theatrical releases, Ikeji shared that the film addresses a question the country has asked for twenty-one years. Director Mcbaror echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the production’s deep commitment to the truth of that night and the enduring memory of the victims.
Distributed by Nile Distribution, tickets will be available at major cinema chains ahead of the late-August premiere.
