Leicester City secured promotion to the Premier League after their rivals Leeds United suffered a shocking 4-0 defeat against Queens Park Rangers.
This result propelled Leicester to the top of the Championship with 94 points and two games left to play, while Leeds remained second with 90 points and just one game remaining.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke acknowledged that automatic promotion was no longer in their hands but remained hopeful, stating, “As long as we have a chance, I’m far away from giving up.”
Enzo Maresca’s Leicester achieved promotion at the first attempt after being relegated from the Premier League the previous season.
Their final two games include a match against Preston on Monday and a home fixture against Blackburn on May 4.

Leeds’ fate now depends on Ipswich Town’s results.
If Ipswich win their next two games, they will secure promotion, while Leeds will have to settle for the playoffs.
Leicester’s journey to promotion was highlighted by their impressive 5-0 victory over Southampton, where Issahaky Fatawu scored a hat-trick, alongside goals from Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy.
However, the joy of promotion for Leicester might be overshadowed by a pending charge from the Premier League for alleged breaches of profit and sustainability rules. If found guilty, Leicester could face a points deduction when they return to the top flight.
Meanwhile, QPR celebrated their survival in the Championship with a deserved victory over Leeds, securing their status in England’s second-tier. Manager Marti Cifuentes praised his team’s resilience and unity throughout the challenging season, referring to their achievement as the “great escape.”
