Adedayo Ben Adegbola, a commercial taxi driver operating in Lagos, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command following allegations of serial rape, defilement, assault, indecent assault, and armed robbery against female passengers. His arrest on October 31, 2025, came after his image went viral on social media, where victims publicly shared their harrowing experiences. Adedayo’s modus operandi involved picking up female passengers through a taxi hailing service, driving them to secluded locations, assaulting them sexually, and robbing them of their belongings.

Detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, led a discreet and intensive investigation under directives from Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Olohuntare Jimoh, culminating in the suspect’s arrest. The police recovered a red Toyota Corolla bearing registration number JJJ 226 HT, the vehicle reportedly used in the offenses. The vehicle has been secured as an exhibit for prosecution.

Currently in police custody, Adedayo is cooperating with investigators while the command intensifies efforts to apprehend any accomplices involved. The police have called on other victims to come forward to aid the investigation, assuring confidentiality and protection of their identities. The Lagos State Police reaffirm their commitment to protecting residents and ensuring justice for survivors as the investigations continue.
