The Taskforce, in its ongoing efforts to enforce environmental order and combat drug-related crimes, conducted an operation that uncovered a stash of illegal substances concealed within a school bag. The seized items included Colorado, Indian hemp, narcotic drugs, scissors, and other controlled substances.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Inawole and the fleeing Shobo are also suspected of involvement in other criminal activities, including bag snatching, pickpocketing, and shoplifting, further highlighting the multifaceted threat posed by these individuals.
Disturbingly, the investigation revealed a network where some Okada operators actively facilitate the illicit drug trade by transporting substances to and from brothels and other locations. Several motorcycles believed to be used in these criminal activities were impounded for violating traffic regulations and aiding illegal operations.
CSP Adetayo Akerele, Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, expressed serious concern over the misuse of commercial motorcycles for criminal purposes. He emphasized the urgent need for sustained enforcement to curb the activities of recalcitrant riders who jeopardize public safety on Lagos roads.
Akerele urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities through the Taskforce’s “See Something, Say Something” initiative, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in maintaining a safe environment.
The recent operation took place around the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ijaiye Bus Stop, and Agbado Railway Station Road, demonstrating the Taskforce’s strategic approach to targeting areas known for criminal activities.
The arrested suspect, Soji Inawole, has been charged and will face prosecution in court. The Taskforce has assured the public of its unwavering commitment, under the leadership of Chairman Akerele, to creating a secure and drug-free Lagos for all its residents.
