The Lagos State Government is undertaking a transformative infrastructure project to link Ibeju-Lekki to Epe through the construction of a new road and bridge over Omu Creek. This strategic initiative aims to enhance connectivity in the rapidly developing Lekki-Epe corridor by providing direct access across the creek, supporting rural-urban integration, and unlocking economic opportunities for local communities.

The Omu Creek road and bridge project features a dual-lane bridge spanning approximately 600 meters and a 5-kilometer stretch of access road. Located in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, this new route will facilitate safer, faster travel for commuters, farmers, and investors by connecting the Lekki Expressway corridor with Epe and surrounding regions. The project is part of Lagos State’s broader master plan to improve infrastructure connectivity ahead of growing investment interests such as the Dangote refinery and free trade zones.

Construction on the Omu Creek bridge involves advanced engineering over swampy terrain and rural waterways. Materials distribution and piling works have been progressing steadily, with site activities indicating the project has reached advanced stages as of mid-2025. Once completed, the road and bridge will dramatically shorten travel times, increase access to markets for agricultural producers, and foster real estate development along the route.

Governed under the Lagos Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the development aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s rural-urban integration strategy. It compliments the ongoing expansion and upgrading of over 200 road and bridge projects across Lagos State aimed at decongesting traffic, improving transportation efficiency, and enabling economic growth.
