Lagos Federal High Court Convicts Two Women for Forgery

​Two women, Olayiwola Bola Oke and Adijat Adewunmi Adeyinka, were sentenced to three months’ imprisonment each on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, by the Federal High Court in Lagos following their involvement in separate forgery cases.

​The convictions, delivered by Justice Daniel Osiagor and Justice D.I. Dipeolu, followed investigations and subsequent arraignments by the Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Both defendants entered guilty pleas to the one-count charges brought against them, which included forgery, presentation of forged documents, and identity misrepresentation.

​Olayiwola Bola Oke faced charges related to the manipulation of multiple Certificates of Occupancy. Specifically, she was found to have forged documents in 2026 where she misrepresented herself as Alhaji Sule Adebodun, Mrs. Loretta Aiyerina Jibowu, and Sulaimon Kayode Olaiya. These actions were deemed a violation of Section 1(2)(c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap. M17, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

​In a parallel case, Adijat Adewunmi Adeyinka was charged for presenting a forged Lagos State Certificate of Occupancy to EFCC operatives. Adeyinka had attempted to misrepresent her identity as one “Kudirat Olukotun” to secure bail for an individual identified as Khaled Said Sabeer Muhammad. Her actions were similarly prosecuted under the Miscellaneous Offences Act.

​Prosecution counsel H.U. Kofarnaisa presented the defendants’ statements and the forged documents as evidence, requesting that the court impose sentences in accordance with the law. Both Justices Osiagor and Dipeolu ruled that the defendants serve their three-month sentences without the option of a fine.
