KolaDaisi University Gets New VC

KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, has entered a new phase in its history with the investiture of Professor Olajumoke Abimbola Morenikeji as its Vice-Chancellor, in what the institution described as a landmark moment for its future. Professor Morenikeji brings to the office a distinguished record of scholarship, administration, and public service built over decades of work in parasitology, higher education leadership, and biodiversity conservation. A product of the University of Ibadan, where she obtained her B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Zoology, she has spent much of her career advancing research on tropical diseases and contributing to solutions for public health and environmental challenges.

Her appointment comes on the strength of a career marked by teaching, mentorship, research productivity, and service across multiple academic and conservation platforms. She has held fellowships and training opportunities in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, India, and the United States, while also building a reputation as a scholar committed to quality education, ethical research, and community impact.

At KolaDaisi University, she has already played important roles in shaping academic and administrative structures, including service as Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor. Her leadership record within the institution includes convening the university’s first international science conference and science exhibition competition, as well as contributing to accreditation, academic planning, and internal governance.
