Farmers belonging to the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State have voiced their deep concerns regarding the escalating security challenges in the region, which are severely impacting their ability to access their farms safely.
Chairman of the Kaduna Chapter of the association, Alhaji Mohammed Numbu, expressed these concerns to Valid View Network on Wednesday, highlighting how the deteriorating security situation has made it impossible for their members to go to their farms due to fear of attacks by bandits.
Numbu revealed that one of their members had recently been abducted by bandits, and his whereabouts remain unknown, further intensifying the fear among farmers.
He lamented that the security challenges in the state have reached alarming levels, with farmers feeling increasingly unsafe and unable to carry out their agricultural activities.

The situation has instilled profound fear among the approximately 72,000 members of the association in Kaduna State, leading many to refrain from venturing into their farms.
Numbu emphasized the constant threat posed by bandits, who strike villages indiscriminately, causing uncertainty and apprehension among residents.
In light of these distressing circumstances, Numbu appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene urgently to address the security crisis not only in Kaduna State but also across the nation.
He emphasized that the state governors are doing their best but stressed that the situation has surpassed their control.
Numbu called on the Nigerian government, under President Tinubu’s leadership, to provide necessary assistance and security measures to protect farmers and alleviate the prevailing insecurity.
He underscored the urgent need for concerted efforts to tackle the root causes of insecurity and address the looming hunger crisis in the country, emphasizing that palliative measures alone cannot adequately mitigate the challenges facing farmers and the nation as a whole.
