Lanre Ogundipe, veteran journalist, former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the African Union of Journalists has announced a new book examining the political evolution, methods and strategies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to him, the book is scheduled for publication before the end of 2026, with its author introducing the concept of “Tinubuism” as a subject for critical political examination.
The book, titled THE TINUBU ENIGMA: Tinubuism, Democratic Continuity and the Future of Nigeria, is a roughly 300 page volume authored by Lanre Ogundipe, veteran journalist, former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and former President of the African Union of Journalists.
The press statement announcing the forthcoming publication was received by ValidViewNetwork on October 1, 2026.
Ogundipe, in explaining the character and purpose of the book, stressed that the work was not designed either to celebrate or condemn President Tinubu.
He described the book as “neither praise literature nor partisan condemnation”, but rather “an attempt at political interpretation.”
According to the author, the book goes beyond examining Tinubu simply as an individual politician. It explores the President as part of a wider political phenomenon shaped by power, strategy, coalition management, institutional influence and the demands of governing Nigeria’s complex federation.
Tinubu as strategist and political organiser
The author explained that the opening chapters examine Tinubu’s political development from the perspective of strategy, organisation and coalition building within Nigeria’s evolving democratic environment.
He stated that the book’s early chapters examine “Tinubu as a strategist, coalition builder and political organiser operating within Nigeria’s evolving democratic terrain.”
The later sections, according to the statement, move into more challenging questions surrounding governance, legitimacy, reform, institutional endurance, democratic accountability and historical judgment.
The author said these chapters also examine the possibility of an emerging political phenomenon that could eventually be understood as “Tinubuism.”
What does ‘Tinubuism’ mean?
Ogundipe made clear that the term is not presented in the book as an already established political doctrine.
Rather, the book poses a question about whether recurring patterns in Tinubu’s political evolution could eventually be understood as a distinctive approach to political organisation, coalition management and the exercise of democratic power in contemporary Nigeria.
The author explained that “The concept is not presented as an established doctrine.”
Instead, he said, the book asks whether “recurring patterns in Tinubu’s political evolution can be understood as a distinctive method of political organisation, coalition management and democratic power management in contemporary Nigeria.”
This framing makes “Tinubuism” one of the central analytical questions raised by the forthcoming book rather than a claim that such a political doctrine has already been formally established.
The Fourth Republic and wider African context
Beyond the personality and political career of President Tinubu, the book places the Tinubu experience within the larger history of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
The author also situates the discussion within the wider African experience of statecraft, democratic consolidation and political leadership.
The statement explained that the book “places the Tinubu political experience within the broader context of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic and the wider African experience of statecraft, democratic consolidation and political leadership.”
From newspaper essays to a major political study
Ogundipe disclosed that the book brings together a collection of essays, including some that had previously appeared in the media.
However, the author stressed that many of the essays have been substantially developed or presented in fresh form for the book.
He described the volume as bringing together “political commentary, analysis and historical reflection” in an effort to understand what he considers “one of the most consequential political trajectories of contemporary Nigeria.”
The book therefore seeks to connect contemporary political commentary with historical reflection and broader questions about Nigeria’s democratic journey.
Scholars and analysts review manuscript
According to the author, the manuscript has undergone substantial editorial development before its planned publication.
He also disclosed that the work has been reviewed by scholars and analysts ahead of publication, generating critical assessments of its arguments and approach.
The statement said, “The manuscript has undergone substantial editorial development and has been reviewed by scholars and analysts ahead of publication, generating critical assessments of its arguments and approach.”
Book seeks wider national conversation
Ogundipe said the book is intended for a broad audience extending beyond political professionals.
According to him, the target audience includes scholars, political practitioners, journalists, researchers, students and members of the wider public with an interest in Nigerian politics and democratic development.
The author said the book is “intended to stimulate discussion among scholars, political practitioners, journalists, researchers, students and members of the wider public interested in Nigerian politics, democratic development and the future of the Nigerian Republic.”
Publication details to follow
The author said further information concerning the publication and public presentation of the book would be announced later.

The statement concluded: “Further details concerning the publication and public presentation of the book will be announced in due course.”
The forthcoming publication is consequently positioned not simply as another political biography, but as an attempt to interrogate the methods, relationships, strategies and democratic implications surrounding one of Nigeria’s most prominent political trajectories, ValidViewNetwork reports.
Whether “Tinubuism” ultimately becomes recognised as a distinct political concept, remains a subject for political scholarship, or simply serves as an analytical lens through which the Tinubu era can be examined, the book is set to place the question firmly within Nigeria’s public discourse.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the forthcoming volume could therefore provide fresh material for the continuing debate over political strategy, coalition building, democratic continuity and the evolving character of leadership in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
