Solar power may be helping Nigerians cope with an unreliable electricity supply, but a fire incident in Ilorin has again highlighted the danger that can arise from faulty or poorly installed electrical systems.
ValidViewNetwork gathered that a room in a building in Ilorin, Kwara State, was gutted after a spark from solar wiring triggered a fire.
The state fire service confirmed the incident.
HOW THE FIRE STARTED
Reports indicate that the fire originated from the solar wiring. A related report said the blaze destroyed a residential building and property in Ilorin.
The incident reinforces the importance of proper installation, maintenance and inspection of solar systems, batteries, inverters and electrical connections.
